Andreia Situm
Registered Midwife
I am proud to say I grew up in a European country where
births attended by midwives was, and still is, a normal
and natural practice in helping women through the child
birth experience.
Here in my new home of Canada I am both proud and privileged
to support and help women experience the most loving, intimate,
and rewarding acts of love, solely "childbirth".
I was born in Croatia in 1961 in a family of five children.
My parents instilled in us the love of learning and culture.
After graduating from the four year nurse-midwifery training
program at Katherine Salopek College in Croatia in 1980,
I served as a Registered midwife in Petrova Hospital, a
busy urban maternity clinic in Zagreb. I worked part-time
during academic terms, and full-time during summers for
several community clinics. Upon completion of a Bachelor
of Science degree and one year of biomedicine, I immigrated
to Ontario, Canada in 1987.
In 2000, I became a Registered Midwife with the College
of Midwives of Ontario and practiced in the Hamilton and
Oakville areas.
I have now relocated to British Columbia where I will continue
my intense support for women seeking a more personal, intimate,
and positive birth experience.
