Linda Peters
RM, RN, IBCLC
I began my career in Midwifery twenty-five years ago on
Canada's east coast where I apprenticed-trained in an active
homebirth practice. Teaching childbirth classes was an integral
aspect to providing care during the childbearing year. My
family moved from the east to the west coast where I established
a homebirth practice on Hornby Island. Following midwifery
registration in 1998 I moved to the Lower Mainland to serve
a larger community.
My education includes an RN with a specialty certificate
in Obstetrics, working in hospital integrated labor &
delivery, neonatal care & postpartum care. My background
in both home and hospital environments allows me to offer
either environment to clients with equal ease.
My interest in supporting women during their postpartum
period led me to complete first the Breastfeeding Counselor
program and then the International Board Certified Lactation
Consultant exams. Providing new mothers with information
and gentle guidance during the early days of breastfeeding
can alter their experience of mothering.
