Barbara Barta, RM
Kelowna midwife Barbara Barta came to the profession of
midwifery when she saw the need for the health care system
to have more respect for women's autonomy, choices, intelligence
and personal values. After studying and working in midwifery
since 1995, Barbara is now pleased to offer LifeJoy Midwifery
service to families in the Kelowna area.
Barbara has an impressive educational background with four
years of university science, two years of self-directed
study in midwifery and women's health and three years of
study at the Midwifery Education Program at the Seattle
Midwifery School. She holds certificates in breastfeeding
counselling and childbirth education and other healing modalities
of nutrition, herbalism, and energy healing. Barbara actively
worked with the Midwifery Task Force during the inception
of legalized midwifery in British Columbia and continues
to contribute to the advancement of individual and societal
levels of health care with political activism, research
and education.
Barbara is honoured to offer women, their new babies and
their families with midwifery care in the central Okanagan.
In working with the women and families in our community,
Barbara hopes to authenticate the incredible power and knowledge
within all people as we strive for optimal wellness.
