development. She has presented research at conferences in
the US including to the Midwives Association of Washington

of North America.
Tracy is a mother of four children, all born into the hands
of midwives. The births of her own children taught her the
positive power of childbirth as a life-altering event. Providing
maternity care is a life calling for her.
"Knowing you were there, before and after
Evan's birth, was tremendous peace of mind. You always made
our visits so enjoyable and you were so patient with all
of our 'first-time-parent' questions. But I especially will
remember how you were with Evan, your love for children
really came through when you held or talked to our little
guy. So all of that goes into one big THANK YOU! I am glad
you were a part of this incredible event in our lives."
"The more I talk with other women about
experiences the more delighted I am that I found you. I
really cherish not only the amazing job you did at guiding
me through the physical aspects of my pregnancy and birth,
but also the emotional and educational aspects. I just hope
that when I am ready to do it all over again that you will
be available!"

Tamara Nahhas
Registered Midwife
Pregnancy, birth and new motherhood are life-changing events
in the life of any woman. My philosophy is to do everything
I can to guard the normalcy and sanctity of this amazing
time in womens lives. I strive to empower women and
their families by providing the information they need to
feel safe, make the best decisions for their care and maintain
a state of health for them and their babies.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Midwifery from the University
of British Columbia. The four year degree program was comprehensive,
including courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology,
Pharmacology, Critical Appraisal and Emergency Skills. Through
my education and experience, I have gained an appreciation
for both the art and science of midwifery.
Before becoming a midwife, I trained as a Doula through
Douglas College and supported women as a volunteer through
the Vancouver Health Department for a number of years. I
was also an active member in the Midwifery Task Force, a
grassroots organization of consumers of midwifery care.
Our mission was to raise public awareness and lobby the
government to regulate and fund midwifery care as part of
the healthcare system. I served as editor for both the Midwifery
Task Force Journal and The Aspiring Midwife.
I am the mother of three children, all born with the help
of midwives!
"Tamara, thanks for all of your guidance and
support throughout the delivery of our precious daughter.
The women you work with will be very lucky to have you!
"
"Thank you for your support during the last
few weeks. This birth has been a wonderful experience. You
have amazing dedication."
