Registered Midwife
I consider it both a privilege and an honor
to be able to help couples traveling the path towards
a safe and satisfying birthing experience.
My initial training as a midwife took place
in Cardiff, Wales in 1977 and it came shortly after having
graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Vancouver General
Hospital School of Nursing. Upon my return to Canada,
I worked several years as an outpost nurse which included
being able to provide midwifery care to Inuit families
in isolated communities across the Arctic and along the
coast of Labrador.
More recently, in 2000, I obtained a Masters
of Science Degree in Nurse-Midwifery from the University
of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT. Since becoming licensed
as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) in the United States
I have returned to my roots and become licensed as a Registered
Midwife in British Columbia in 2002 and subsequently spent
three years providing women in the Fraser Valley with
midwifery care before moving to the North Okanagan. I
encourage each woman to honor herself by trusting herself
and securing the faith in herself to experience normal
physiological childbirth.
