Pomegranate
Community Midwives opened
in February 2006 in the Sunrise community of East Vancouver.
The clinic is designed with an open area in the front,
large enough to host classes and workshops geared towards
pregnancy and beyond, which we hope you will enjoy. We
offer prenatal education, mothering groups, prenatal and
postpartum yoga classes, baby sign language and regular
info sessions on such topics as water birth, home birth
and fertility awareness. Our website is host to the Swelling
With Pride – Queer Conception to Parenting listserve
group. We have also been key organizers of the annual
BirthFest at Britannia Community Centre. These are just
a few ways that we continue to strive to create a strong
network of families in our neighbourhood and beyond.
In addition to providing comprehensive prenatal care, education
and resources, Pomegranate has incorporated other healthcare
professionals and therapists into our space, so that you
can plan a massage, cranio-sacral, nutritionist or acupuncture
appointment adjacent to your midwifery appointment.
We are located in Hastings Sunrise - a rapidly growing
and diverse community attracted by the beautiful views,
flourishing neighborhood, and promising developments. Pomegranate
is only the second midwifery clinic on the east side - a
traditionally underserved area - and the first in this community.
Within a block radius are a diversity of fun shops, cafes,
a public library, a community centre, banks, drugstores
and food markets. Also close by are other healthcare professionals,
including chiropractors, acupuncturists, lab & x-ray
services, dentists and medical clinics. Being on a main
street, it is highly accessible to those using public transportation,
as well as having ample free street parking.
