Michelle Camerson,
Registered Midwife
Michelle's interest to become a midwife began in the early
1990's. From a young age, she witnessed midwifery services
positively impact the women and families in her community.
With this ingrained in her heart, she set off traveling,
gaining rewarding life experiences, tree planting for 7
years, and studying/practicing acupressure and reflexology.
Finally accomplishing her dream with a BHSc in Midwifery
from the francophone program at Laurentian University, she
returned to this beautiful province to practice alongside
two knowledgeable midwives.
Michelle believes midwives provide women with choice, respect
and individual care while applying current, research-based
medicine. She trusts in women's ability to give birth and
feels that with support and education, women gain confidence
in their bodies. She is delighted to be in Surrey providing
services to a diverse population of women. Michelle is experienced
in all settings and is happy to attend your birth at home,
Surrey Memorial Hospital or Peace Arch Hospital.

Janice Robinson,
Registered Midwife
I am originally from California and discovered
midwifery about twenty-five years ago, when I moved to a
small coastal town in Northern California. Many of my friends
were having their babies at home with local midwives. A
friend invited me to attend her home birth. I was awe-struck
by the beauty and naturalness of the birth, and amazed at
the support and calm competency
the midwives provided. I became involved first by providing
labor support and birth assisting. As my interest grew I
spent several years providing childbirth education and hospital
labor support.
Re-locating to Seattle, I enrolled in Seattle
Midwifery School and graduated in 1997. My studies included
work in variety of Seattle area practices, as well as training
in St Lucia, West Indies, and the Philippines. Following
graduation I joined a practice partnership in Seattle, primarily
providing home and birth center birth services.
My professional experience over the last twenty-five
years has also included working with women and their families
in a variety of social and health programs, as a social
worker and counselor. I am also certified as a
lactation counselor and Hypnotherapist.
I am the proud mother of two wonderful sons,
and have three beautiful grandchildren. After completing
the BC midwifery registration process, I moved to the Vancouver
area in Aug 2005. I am very excited to begin this next phase
of my life, starting practice in British Columbia, exploring
new places and meeting new people. I feel very fortunate
to have the opportunity within the BC model of midwifery
care and join practice at the Village Clinic.

Debbie Harding,
Registered Midwife
I am a registered midwife returned to community practice
in early 2006 following the completion of a PhD in Midwifery
from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. I became
a practicing midwife following the homebirth of my second
child in 1981. I became a midwife as it was so challenging
to obtain a lovely birth experience with support, quality
care and nurturing. I wanted to provide choices for women,
enabling them to experience the normalcy, wonder and power
of birth.
I was actively involved in the process of the legalization
of midwifery as a recognized health care profession in British
Columbia. I have served in many capacities as an MABC board
member and participated in the successful membership application
of the MABC into the International Confederation of Midwives
in 1984. I was one of the midwives appointed to the first
board of the College of Midwives in 1995.
I value the incredible journey shared by my midwifery colleagues
and birthing women that has taken me from childbirth educator,
doula, lay midwife, licensed midwife, registered nurse,
to registered midwife, as well as the other ancillary roles
as a teacher and mentor. I appreciate every opportunity
to assist women to be empowered through their birthing experiences.
I live in sunny White Rock, B.C. with my wonderful supportive
husband and immensely enjoy my two grown children and my
adorable grandson.
