Kim Campbell
Registered Midwife
I founded Valley Midwifery Group in 1998. Since graduating
with a diploma in nursing over 25 years ago I have enjoyed
working with woman and babies. I completed my midwifery
education through the Master of Nursing & Midwifery
certificate program at the University of Alberta. Prior
to regulation of midwifery in 1998 I spent most of my career
as a staff nurse in the birthing suite. I have also been
program manager / administrator, educator, researcher, writer,
lactation consultant, as well as spent some time in cardiac
and operating room nursing.
In addition to working with women and babies as a midwife,
I have been active in midwifery politics, serving on the
boards of the Midwives Association of BC from 1997 to 2000,
the College of Midwives board from 2000 to 2001, and the
Canadian Association of Midwives from 2000 until 2005. I
currently hold positions on committees of provincial British
Columbia Reproductive Care Program and the College of Midwives
of B.C. where I advocate for evidence based effective maternity
care. I am also an instructor at the University of British
Columbia teaching in the Division of Midwifery. It is a
great privilege to work with the bright group of midwifery
students in UBC’s four year direct entry degree program.

I have lived and worked in 6 provinces and 1 territory.
Abbotsford has been home since 1993. The Valley Midwifery
Group share office space with my husband Mike, a family
physician. We have two grown children, aged 23 and 19.
