Overview

As a result of collaboration between the new BC Centre for Vulvar Health, the UBC Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the UBC Division of Continuing Professional Development, we are excited to announce the first BC conference addressing vulvar health! We expect a strong regional interest in this unique conference as vulvovaginal disorders are one of the top reasons women seek help from their Family Doctors!

This one day conference was planned with Womens’ Health Care Providers in mind (Primary Care Providers, Gynaecologists, Nurse Practitioners) and will endeavour to provide education in vulvovaginal disorders.  Areas that will be addressed include: vulvar skin conditions, urogenital symptoms of menopause, sexual health concerns, vulvar pain conditions, and recurrent vulvovaginal infections. The focus will be on practical diagnosis and management.

The conference format will be a mixture of 30 minute plenary lectures and small group interactive sessions. The breakout sessions will include introductory and advanced sessions in vulvar health.

Lynette Margesson, MD

Dr. Margesson is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Surgery(Dermatology) at Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.  She holds vulvar clinics at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center monthly in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is very active in vulvar teaching, lecturing locally, nationally and internationally, is active in the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD) and teaches regularly at the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology meetings.  She is the author of two textbooks on vulvar disease and has been a contributor to several others.

She received her medical degree from University of Western Ontario in 1970 and finished her Fellowship in Dermatology in 1975 in Toronto.  She was on the teaching staff at Queens University from 1976 until 1997 where she started the first combined vulvar teaching clinic in Canada with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  She moved to New Hampshire in 1997. She is working, part time, in a vulvar clinic in Manchester, New Hampshire. She is now living in Maine. She is committed to promoting vulvar education and awareness of vulvar conditions.
