Meet Chidinma Obilor, a dedicated registered midwife whose journey began in Nigeria and has flourished in Canada. With a deep-rooted passion for midwifery, Chidinma’s path was inspired by witnessing her mother’s pregnancies and the birth of her twin siblings. This formative experience ignited a calling within her to support others during one of life's most transformative moments—childbirth.
A Calling to Serve
Chidinma recalls, “I was amazed by the wonders of life and the process of childbirth.” This awe-inspiring moment set her on a path to become a midwife, driven by a desire to offer emotional and physical support to families during their most significant life events. For Chidinma, there is no greater reward than playing a role in bringing new life into the world and supporting families through the profound changes that accompany it.
A Personal Touch
Originally from Nigeria, Chidinma migrated to Canada few years ago. She completed her midwifery training in Nigeria and practiced in community and hospital settings as a registered midwife. Upon migrating to Canada, she embarked on the Internationally Educated Midwives Bridging Program (IEMBP) with the University of British Columbia. Now a proud mother of three beautiful daughters, she brings her personal experience into her practice, creating a compassionate and relatable environment for her clients.
Outside of midwifery, Chidinma loves to sing, she also enjoys cooking and baking, often sharing delicious meals with her family and friends. Swimming is another favorite pastime, where she cherishes moments of joy and connection with her loved ones.

As Chidinma embarks on her professional journey, she aims to remain updated through research and studying to enhance her clinical skills, ensuring she delivers safe, evidence-based care. Building strong, trustworthy relationships with her clients and their families is paramount for her. “I want my clients to feel fully supported and informed throughout their care,” she states, underscoring her commitment to holistic and client-centered care.
Chidinma also hopes to raise awareness about midwifery within every community she finds herself “Many people are not familiar with the profession,” she explains, advocating for more education and outreach to help others understand the essential role midwives play in healthcare.
