Midwives needed in Kamloops, BC!
Mighty Oak Midwifery Care needs urgent support.
Ultimately we would love to recruit midwives interested in relocating for long-term work in this community, however we are also happy to consider any offers of short term support.
For those interested in a permanent position, starting date ideally February or March 2022, but we can be flexible. There is always a significant waitlist in Kamloops for midwifery services and lots of room for growth!
Our approach to care emphasizes continuity of care provider in a supported solo model: Clients have a primary midwife, with each midwife carrying 4-5 primary clients per month full time (or less part time) based on individual preference. We support each other in back up pods of 2 - 3 midwives in order to preserve continuity for families and work-life balance for midwives. Each midwife takes 8 weeks holiday per year and we schedule flex days off each month, within our pods. Our midwives work autonomously and cooperatively under the umbrella of Mighty Oak Midwifery Care.
Our homebirth rate is approximately 30 - 35%. We have a lovely clinic space that also houses group prenatal classes (Lamaze based CBE) and a team of three professional doulas. Our office is established with Accuro EMR and we have MOA support.
Royal Inland Hospital is a Level 2 hospital with 1100 – 1200 births per year. Midwifery services here were established in 2008 and we have excellent working relationships with our consultants and nursing staff. There are three active second attendants in our community; all nurses from LDR and/or NICU.
If you are interested in applying for a position, please send a letter of interest and CV to email@example.com or call 250-377-8611.
