Dandelion Midwifery and Family Wellness is actively seeking to expand our practice to meet the community need. We're seeking a full-time registered midwife to join us as early as May 1, 2026. We are located on the traditional territory of the W̱SÁNEĆ people, providing care to families living on the Saanich Peninsula. Our clinic is located in the heart of beautiful Brentwood Bay. 

The midwife would be joining 3 other midwives in a solo supported model, providing care for 3-4 due dates per month, with a schedule that includes regular protected off-call time. We provide both home and hospital birth care. Victoria General Hospital is a Level 3 hospital with 24/7 on-call OB, peds, NICU, and anesthesia. We enjoy collaborative and supportive relationships with our physician consultants.

We are a practice that is committed to providing a safe and inclusive space for our clients. Being located on the territory of the Tsartlip First Nation and close to Pauquachin, Tsawout and Tseycum communities, our midwives provide care to a large number of Indigenous families. Indigenous midwives are strongly encouraged to apply, and there is opportunity for a full time, permanent position for an Indigenous midwife. 

We have the most amazing MOA and use Oscar/JUNO EMR.

Location: Nanaimo, BC (from Ladysmith to Parksville) on Vancouver Island

Start Date: Ideally by Sept 2026 (part-time earlier welcome!)

Join Nanaimo Registered Midwives — a welcoming, community-focused practice providing full-scope care from early pregnancy through six weeks postpartum. We support informed choice, inclusive care, and both home and hospital births (homebirth rate ~10–20%). We work closely with excellent nurses, collaborative OBs, and a supportive internal medicine consultant.  Our hospital birth unit features beautiful LDRP suites and rumour has it waterbirth privileges may be coming soon!

The Offer:

• Caseload: ~10 clients/month shared between 2 midwives
• Income Per Midwife:  Approximately $295K/year (for 10 months of work)
• Clinic Cost: Approximately $2000/month each (shared overhead + full MOA support)
• Time-Off: 2 months/year planned leave (with locum coverage) or potentially less or more dependent on needs
• A sustainable practice model that actually supports life outside of call

Who We’re Looking For:

Someone who loves full-scope midwifery in both home + hospital settings, values informed choice, and practices with professionalism, warmth, and clarity. You’re organized, collaborative, confident, and truly committed to client-centered care for all families. Strong communication skills and desire for a consistent, sustainable full-time practice are key.

Who Your Partner Would Be:

A full-time midwife practicing in Nanaimo since 2017 with a background in business. Direct, clear communication style; loves a balanced rhythm of work and real time off (hello, two months of travel every year). The practice has many returning families and a friendly, respectful relationship with hospital staff.
