Sooke Midwifery Clinic seeks a registered midwife to join our team of three RM. Our caseload varies between 2-4 EDDs/midwife a month. We provide exceptional care in a rural setting, serving a vibrant and diverse community. We collaborate with OB colleagues in Victoria and have strong relationships with local GPs. We attend home births in Sooke and surrounding areas and provide hospital care at Victoria General Hospital. The Families and Babies Program, launched in October 2023 at Surrey Memorial Hospital, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Midwife to join our dynamic team. This innovative program provides specialized postpartum care for low-risk birthing families and their infants, ensuring a smooth transition from hospital to home with early discharge at 24 hours.
Midwives in this program play a vital role in delivering high-quality, supportive care to families during the critical first week postpartum. This includes providing in-home care and conducting follow-up appointments at our program clinic, located in the Children’s Health Centre at Surrey Memorial Hospital.

Ponderosa Midwives in beautiful Kelowna, BC is seeking a 3/4 to full-time midwife to join our team as soon as possible.

We are a cohesive team of 3-4 midwives that work in both solo and team-based models. Our practice operates out of a beautiful clinic space in a residential neighbourhood close to the hospital, hiking and biking trails, and downtown. We have a part-time MOA who does an excellent job of supporting us. We use OSCAR for electronic medical records and aspire to minimize our footprint. The shared clinic space offers one comfortable clinic room and an additional space for assessments and resources. Our home birth rate averages around 30%. Our clinic is close to Kelowna General Hospital, which is a level 2 facility. Our interprofessional relationships are strong, including very supportive nursing staff, and we pride ourselves on a cohesive midwifery community in town.
The successful applicant will ideally work in a full-time capacity, in a team structure that is up for discussion. Long-term positions offer up to 2 months of holiday during the contract. Regular off-call time is negotiated within teams, with additional time off when possible. **our practice operates within a cost-share agreement and we pride ourselves on maintaining an affordable and abundant clinic setup. Job Summary
The Midwifery Clinical Placement Community Liaison is a 0.2 FTE (1 day a week) administrative position that acts as a liaison between the UBC Midwifery program, the Health Authority, and clinical sites/preceptors in their region. Working within the unique environment of a distributed midwifery program, the Clinical Placement Community Liaison will work under the direction of the Clinical Placement Lead and support the education opportunities of UBC Midwifery students. The Liaison will also support the program in continuing to establish and build relationships with UBC Midwifery clinical faculty, regional health authorities and hospitals. UBC Midwifery will be hiring one position for each of the following health authorities: Fraser Health Authority, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Vancouver Island Health Authority, Northern Health Authority, and Interior Health Authority.
Organizational Status
The Bachelor of Midwifery and the Internationally Educated Midwives Bridging Program (IEMBP) are fully distributed entry to practice Midwifery Education Programs delivered currently in Vancouver, Surrey and Victoria. Clinical placements for all undergraduate and bridging students take place throughout the year, with specific periods identified for more robust placement requirements. The development, implementation and management of these programs are complex and require close collaboration between the Midwifery Program, the UBC Faculty of Medicine, the hospital and the health authorities, as well as Midwifery clinical preceptors. The Clinical Placement Community Liaison will be supported by the Clinical Placement Coordinator and Student Services Manager & Advisor. The Liaison will be supported by and take operational direction from both the Midwifery Program and the Department of Family Practice, including the Midwifery Program Director and the administrative leadership within the Department.
Work Performed
The Clinical Placement Community Liaison will be responsible for supporting students and clinical preceptors in their community as needed during clinical placement rotations. This may include, but is not limited to:
• Liaise between UBC Midwifery Program and Healthy Authority / Clinical Sites Preceptor engagement, recruitment and retention (ie: leading lunch and learns, facilitating clinic visits)
• Develop and manage surveys sent to RM’s for feedback (goal to be in person)
• Keep an up-to-date spreadsheet of all RM’s in your health authority, including teams, clinics, and contacts
• Liaise with RM’s in your health authority to improve preceptor relations, support preceptors
• Each semester (or as needed), reach out to RM’s in your health authority to determine availability to precept students
• Check in with the Clinical Placement Lead monthly
Consequence of Error/Judgement
The Clinical Placement Community Liaison must exercise considerable judgement initiating and carrying through with various activities critical to the functioning of the Midwifery clinical placements and the program’s relationships with external stakeholders. Exercising poor judgement, ineffective communications, or lack of confidentiality could result in strained relations that compromise the Divisional activities and the Midwifery Program. The Midwifery Director may need to intercede in order to resume a productive working relationship.
Minimum Qualifications
Practicing midwife within the identified health authority. A clinical faculty appointment with the Faculty of Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications
• An understanding of Midwifery skills and practice are required.
• An understanding of the systems and requirements in place to support student’s entrance into a new health authority/hospital.
• Maturity, diplomacy, and tact to exercise independent judgment and effectively cope in a highly political health care environment.
• Proven exceptional verbal and written interpersonal skills to succeed working in a unique health professional education environment.
• Knowledge of health professional education.
• Understanding of Midwifery organizational course structure.
• Proven experience building relationships with professionals and a demonstrated understanding of the complexity of engaging these individuals in clinical teaching roles.
• Experience leading change in an environment of constant change and ambiguity by creating and communicating a vision and taking appropriate action to ensure acceptance and support.
• Experience in fostering the long-term learning and development of clinical faculty through coaching, managing performance, and mentoring; supporting reports and indirect reports in an environment of continuous quality improvement.
• Demonstrated leadership and success motivating, engaging, and supporting students and clinical faculty to achieve positive organizational and educational outcomes.
• Must be highly motivated, resilient, innovative, and deeply collaborative
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own perspective and values.

Earthside Birth is located on the unceded territory of the Lkwungen People, also known as the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations communities. We are a full scope midwifery practice with four IBCLC on staff, and complimentary therapists including pelvic floor physiotherapy and acupuncture. Our beautiful clinic is located in West Bay Esquimalt; the office has natural light, ocean views and two comfortable clinic rooms. We currently work in two teams of full-scope midwives, and a postpartum only focused team. We are seeking a midwife to cover holidays on our team of four throughout July and August. Call shifts are 24 hours long, and each midwife does one clinic day a week (you can enjoy your lunch breaks walking the Songhees walkway just steps from our door connected to the marina! Our caseload is 16-20 EDDs per month.
