New Beginnings Midwifery is now lookng to hire a midwife to join our team beginning August 2019 for a
minimum 20 months, with the possibility of extending the position long term for the right candidate.
The Department of Midwifery at BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre and Providence Health Care, St. Paul’s Hospital, invites interested midwives to apply for medical staff privileges. There are currently 6 vacant positions eligible; three positions for privileges at St. Paul’s Hospital only and require a commitment to SPH for a minimum of 2 years before being eligible to apply for BCW privileges, and three positions for dual privileges at both BC Women’s Hospital and St Paul’s Hospital. Members of the Department of Midwifery work in community based clinics, and provide midwifery services to women and their families who reside in the city of Vancouver and surrounding communities.

Six successful applicants will be invited to apply for privileges at BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre (PHSA) and/or Providence Health Care, St. Paul’s Hospital (VCH).
Preference will be given to applicants intending to work full-time in order to help meet the high demand for midwifery care in Vancouver

Successful applicants will be notified within a week of interviews and immediately invited to apply for medical staff privileges. Please note that activation of medical staff privileges can take up to three months.

In this unique role, you will be working in an established multidisciplinary Health Centre in Surrey which provides comprehensive health services to pregnant and early parenting women impacted by violence, trauma and/ or substance use, and their infants/children. The Centre operates with a woman centered, Trauma Informed and a Harm Reduction philosophy.
You will provide midwifery care within a team of dedicated and committed experts. The multi- disciplinary team includes Nurse Practitioners, Physician, Clinical Supervisor, RN, MOAs, Social Worker, Counsellors, Dental Hygienist, Dietitian and availability of access to Specialists on site.
Care is shared among the medical team, with the client seeing the most appropriate provider. Prenatal care is a team approach. As the Midwife on the team you are responsible for prenatal care for low risk pregnancies. Additionally, shared care with the Nurse Practitioners for prenatal clients who are stable on Opiate Agonist Therapy. High risk pregnancies and clients with complex needs will be seen by the General Practitioner and/or the Obstetrician. Onsite referral to an Obstetrician and Maternal-Fetal Specialist is available.

The Health Centre operates five days per week and is co-located with a shelter, daycare and second stage housing for women and children at Maxxine Wright Place. Your schedule will consist of 1-2 half days per week. The days are negotiable depending on office space.

Your qualifications will include eligibility for licensure with the College of Midwives of BC and hospital privileges at Surrey Memorial Hospital. You have a passion for working with pregnant and early parenting women with a variety of mental health and substance use challenges.
Compensation by direct MSP billing. Additionally, a top up will cover orientation time and to attend meetings.

We are a group of 3 full-time midwives serving the families in the Fraser Valley since 2007. We hold privileges at both Abbotsford Regional and Chilliwack General Hospitals. We serve a diverse population and are all passionate about home birth! Our clinic is located in a beautiful home just one block from Abbotsford Hospital. We have the priviege of working with a supportive collaborative group of midwives, gp's, obs and maternity nurses. Abbotsford Regional is a beautiful new single family centered maternity unit opened in 2008.

We have full-time admin support and run on Oscar for EMR. We are currently working in a team of 3 but are keen to split into 2 teams of 2. We value work/life balance and allow adequate time off call and vacation time. We support each other and meet weekly to chart review. We also have regular peer review with other midwifery practices in the Valley.

Burnaby Midwifery Care has 2 positions opening for a long-term, full-time, Registered Midwife to join the practice in June/July 2018. Burnaby Midwifery Care is a busy, growing practice, currently with a waitlist. Our office is located in Burnaby and we have an MOA who works remotely to support the clinics needs. We serve Burnaby, Coquitlam & New Westminster. The successful candidate would work full time (4-5 due dates per month) as a shared care, team of two. Privileges are at Burnaby General Hospital and Royal Columbian Hospital.
- Excellent communication skills
- Being fluent in one more language especially Farsi
- A second language would be ideal
- Experience with Oscar EMR, we are a paper-free practice
